Here we are already: it is the last week of our monthly cycle. To conclude this visual adventure, it’s the turn of What’s New in the Studio. This is often where I gather my most recent work, my lighting research or my technical favourites. Whether complex portraits or cinematic stagings, this category is the laboratory of my latest inspirations. It is my way of ending the month with you on a strong, creative note.

The Strength Arcanum: The Lion and the Lineage - A cinematic and theatrical exploration of inner sovereignty guided by the Tarot.

The studio is a space of projection where symbols take flesh. For this new piece of research from the laboratory, I wanted to confront a monument of the collective unconscious: the Strength arcanum in the Tarot. Far from passive imagery or the mere illustration of a card, my technical and artistic intention was to sculpt the raw energy of self-mastery, that of the woman who opens or closes the lion’s jaws without violence, through the sheer power of her presence.

The keystone of this composition rests on the collaboration with Alena Artistique, who designed a monumental outfit. The texture of the fabrics, the imperial cut and the adornments bring an immediate physicality to the set. As an art photographer, I approached this project with my sculptor’s reflexes: it was not a matter of freezing a pose, but of anchoring a mass, of giving relief to the verticality of the model. To translate this notion of quiet strength visually, I worked a dramatic chiaroscuro with very tight directional flashes. The shadow devours the background to let only the key textures emerge: the grain of the skin, the relief of the embroidery and the untamed attitude of the model.

One anecdote defined the energy of the session: as we were adjusting a raking light on her profile, the model made a subtle tilt of the head, her gaze planted straight into the lens, with an almost feral intensity. Silence suddenly settled over the studio. This is exactly what I look for in my art photography: the tipping point when the model entirely takes over the narrative space and becomes the archetype itself. A complex, cinematic staging, where the dreamlike is born from the perfect tension between human fragility and the power of myth.

And so our month in images comes to an end. I hope you enjoyed discovering these four series as much as I enjoyed creating them. If you missed an episode or want to dive without limit into all of these galleries (and the previous ones), the Pass remains the best way to support my work and miss nothing. Thank you for your loyalty, and see you next month for new stories!
