Echo of the past

In this gallery, I play with the codes of the past, from the Renaissance to nineteenth-century studio portraits. I imagine characters: a Victorian muse, a forgotten goddess or a film noir heroine.

 

Black and white comes back often. The grain of the image, a fabric or a gesture give these fictions their substance. When I photograph the nude, I compose it with painting in mind, in a muted sensuality.

 

I look for ways to suggest the lives these characters might have led.
