Here we are in the second week of our cycle, the one where we leave the tame shores for something bolder. It is time for the Free Women series. It is a creative space I particularly love because it lets me work the body in a sculptural and symbolic way. Here, the nude becomes graphic, carrying meaning and strength. It is another facet of my work, more direct, which I am delighted to share with you today..

Free Women: Black and White Nudes on White Background - When white light chisels the line and turns the silhouette into graphic architecture.

I have always approached photography with a sculptor’s instinct. For this new series, which gathers several research sessions around a single obsession, I wanted to invert the classical paradigm of chiaroscuro. Instead of bringing form out of shadow, I chose to melt it into an absolute, almost blinding whiteness. Working the nude in black and white on a luminous white background — the high-key technique — means accepting a ruthless technical hand-to-hand struggle with matter.

Here, the background is not a mere empty space; it is an ocean of pure clarity that nibbles away at the contours, a virtual block of marble from which I carve the lines of force. On set, the atmosphere of these sessions is always particular. You lose your spatial bearings, the studio fades away to leave only pure intention. With the models, the approach was eminently collaborative. No passive pose, no concession to the consuming gaze. Together we looked for the point of tension, the precise instant when the skin becomes a porous border between the visible and the invisible.

Technically, the great challenge lies in preserving texture. If the light crushes everything, volume is lost; if it lacks power, the white goes out. Each source had to be dosed so that the grain of the skin could still be sensed, like a deposit of graphite on high-end art paper. This project marks an essential stage in my approach to art photography. By pushing the frame to the extreme of simplicity, the art of the nude frees itself from the real to touch a minimalist dreaminess. It is no longer the story of an anatomy, it is the story of a presence, powerful and graphic, engraved in light. A celebration of pure form where the artistic nude reinvents itself under the scalpel of controlled overexposure.

To see this week’s exhibitions or all of my work, here are the options:

This graphic exploration is over for this week, but the month is far from finished. In seven days, we will slip into something more muted and more tactile. Get ready for the Embodied Intimacies series, where we will set the staging aside to move closer to the skin and the senses. See you next week!
