This week in Photos of the Week – YES Photographies (#24), I present two very different series linked by the same choice: black and white, to capture the essence. With no colors to distract, all that remains is light, form, and emotion. An artistic, sensual, and intimate photographic approach, somewhere between reportage and studio creation.

Nude in a living room – Leica intimacy
In this first series, shot with a Leica Monochrom, each image becomes a suspended fragment. The subtle grain, organic precision, deep shadows, and delicate highlights all combine to create a hushed atmosphere, like a visual whisper. Here, the artistic nude is not exposed. It breathes. It blends into the everyday setting, like a quiet presence, a simple and naked truth. It is a sensual black-and-white photograph, soft and silent, inviting the viewer to contemplate rather than consume.
Studio creation – Transparency and tension
In contrast to the Leica aesthetic, this second series was shot in the studio, with more constructed, dramatic lighting. The model poses behind a semi-transparent construction sheet, creating a play between shadow and veil, body and matter. Here, the artistic female photograph becomes a theater of appearance and disappearance. Shapes are hinted at, fade away, and reappear from unexpected angles. It is a creative studio shoot, both raw and refined, where sensuality is conveyed through what we only half see.
Two perspectives on black and white
This visual diptych, between Leica and studio, reveals the richness of black and white in artistic photography. One captures the real moment, with its tenderness and natural light. The other stages mystery, matter, and presence. Between artistic nude, sensual photography, play of light, and symbolic contrast, these two approaches remind us that black and white is never neutral: it is choice, tension, visual silence.
